THE A LIST (03.10.23)

Program Director Taylor Fox filled in for our usual A List keeper (Music Director Nils Illokken) this week and carried the torch valiantly, if we might say so ourselves.

If you missed the broadcast, we've got these incredible songs covered for you to try on right here. Of course, you can tune in any time through the week and *usually* catch Nils broadcast the weekly top 10 every Friday 11a - 3p EST.

Anyone, anywhere can dive IN here at Inhailer.com, or conveniently from our new iPhone and Android apps, anytime!

#10 “Bath County” – Wednesday

We're pretty excited for Wednesday's upcoming record, and our first entry this week proves why! Bath Country was written on a porch in the namesake, Bath Country, Virginia and is accompanied by a music video inspired by PJ Harvey's Man-Size video. Shout out to Ohio University's Lobsterfest, which is where Wednesday is kicking off their tour on 3/31! Rat Saw God is out 4/7 via Dead Oceans.

#9 “Cicada” – Temples

Their lead single Gamma Rays graced our Top 10 several weeks when it dropped. It only makes sense that listeners are also loving the newest taste of their upcoming 4th studio album. Perhaps something to do with Cincinnati's familiarity with Cicadas... Thomas Walmsley said: “‘Cicada’ came from being inspired by the sound of cicadas, and the idea of emerging from the underground after a long time of being suppressed. Exotico is out 4/14 via ATO Records.

#8 “Do It Faster” – Militaire Gun

They were our #1 last week, and they're still rocking our A List! The early 2000's pop-punk/hardcore adjacent sound is having its 2023 moment and we're loving it! This L.A. 5-piece has their debut record on the way (as of yet unnamed and no ETA), and the almost 2 minute track Do It Faster has us thirsting for more!

#7 “Tin Man” – feeble little horse

We absolutely loved feeble little horse's 2021 debut (which they reissued in 2022 when they signed to Saddle Creek) and this first taste of their upcoming sophomore album has us very excited. This is their chill yet driven lead single Tin Man. It also helps that their video preview below features that Inhailer Radio pink you've come to love! Girl With Fish is out 6/9 via Saddle Creek.

#6 “New Order T-Shirt” – The National

Cincinnati's favorite indie darlings The National have their 9th studio album on the way and this is the second single from it, New Order T-Shirt. It's a sweet and nostalgic look back at fond memories and keeping what memorabilia you can of loved ones with you. First Two Pages Of Frankenstein is out 4/28 on 4AD.

#5 “My Blood Runs Through This Land” – Black Belt Eagle Scout

The follow-up to 2019's At The Party With My Brown Friends has been something special. The Land, The Water, The Sky is out now, and it sees Katherine Paul returning to her Native American roots (the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community) and finding ways to incorporate that in her lyrics and music. The 5 minute epic My Blood Runs Through This Land has been an Inhailer DJ favorite.

#4 “Dummy” – Portugal. The Man

Portugal. The Man is our featured artist this week! It's so great to see them back and gracing our ears with such a fun track and a new mascot?

This isn't their first release since 2017's Woodstock, but it is their official follow-up! Dummy is PTM's ode to The Cure and all the, "hopeless doomers out there waxing poetic on the end times while dancing to Boys Don’t Cry." Chris Black Changed My Life is out 6/23.

#3 “Not Strong Enough” – boygenius

You know we love our boygenius here at Inhailer! We've been graced with the 4th single off of their upcoming debut record and Not Strong Enough sees them truly collaborating, each member getting their spotlight. It also accompanies a very cute music video of the trio having an absolute blast at the pier and more! The Record is out 3/31 via Interscope/Polydor.

#2 “Bang Bang” – Momma

We have a not so subtle track from one of our new listers, Momma. The band wanted to write something lyrically different than anything they've done in the past, which leads us to the very sexy Bang Bang. This would have been huge in the 90's, and hopefully even bigger with the 90's making a comeback in 2023!

#1 “Nadja” – Unknown Mortal Orchestra

Is there anything sweeter than new Unknown Mortal Orchestra gracing your ears? The New Zealand born but Portland, OR based UMO have a new record on the way, and one that we've heard many different tracks from at this point. Nadja is a near obsessive love song about the aforementioned Nadja! V is out 3/17 via Jagjaguwar.

That's all folks!

Catch the next A List this Friday, it's a date.
