This Pine Box: Cincy Folk Takes Over Oxford's Uptown Park

Just shy of an hour north of Cincinnati, Oxford’s Uptown Music Summer Concert Series kicked off back on June 7. Bands take the stage at Oxford’s Uptown Park every Thursday night from June through September. The concert series hosts a variety of different artists, and at 7 P.M. on July 12, will feature the Queen City folk rockers: This Pine Box.

This Pine Box is a folk-influenced rock band that formed in 2016 by Jake Knight (guitar/vocals) and Sean Warpenburg (bass). Joe Tellmann (guitar), Braden Devine (piano), and J.P. Demmel (drums) filled out the band. They released their debut EP in 2016, as well as three singles last year. The band has played with a lot of local acts like the Yugos, Modern Aquatic, and Dawg Yawp.

The band’s sound is inspired by artists like Houndmouth and The Head and the Heart. This Pine Box most recently released their single, “Running Around,” back in April in support of their upcoming, full-length record.

All Uptown Music Summer Concert Series shows are free, so grab your lawn chairs and blankets, family and friends, and enjoy a great night of Cincy music under the stars.
