Lauren Eylise: Intimate Soul at MOTR Pub

Local R&B songwriter and vocal powerhouse Lauren Eylise returns to MOTR Pub, along with her vibrant backing band The Part Time Lovers. And if you like her, you'll like Jon Schuyler, who will help her round out the evening. So grab a drink, feel the rhythm, and don't be afraid to dance along!

Eylise already has years of performing experience and several tours under her belt, resulting in 2017’s Life/Death/Life EP. She sings about love and heartbreak, as well as addressing wider-reaching issues including motherhood and life as a woman of color. Clever lyrical turns and nuanced vocal lines add an unusual depth to her self-penned songs. After honing her live act with recent appearances at the Aronoff Center and many other local venues, you can expect Eylise to put on a fantastic show. Eylise has been singing since before she could speak, and sang in church and school before picking up piano and guitar in her teens. After graduating from the University of Dayton, she moved to New York to pursue musical opportunities, but returned to Cincinnati after releasing 2012’s Unknown Artist mixtape. In 2016 she won the WomenInCharg3 Best R&B Artist of the Year and last year performed at the CEAs. She has opened for a variety of charting artists and her concerts and recordings have garnered positive reviews. Eylise’s years of hard work in the woodshed and on stage are paying off, and this show may just be the last chance to see her for free in a venue as intimate as MOTR. In support will be fellow Cincinnati native Jon Schuyler. Schuyler takes a more classic approach, with lush background vocals and a smokey '90s feel to the music. But, similar to Eylise, he is open and vulnerable in his writing, with an emotional approach that is especially apparent on 2017’s sophomore album God’s Eye.

The two artists will be well-matched on this bill, with plenty of seductive vocals and lyrical material culled from the joy and pain of lived experience. And we hear there will be a guest appearance by a member of Triiibe (the artist collective formerly known as Blvck Seeds)! Don’t miss it!
