Dr. Dog Brings the Psych Rock Sounds of their Tenth Release to Madison Theater

Philadelphia indie rock band Dr. Dog are bringing their psychedelic sound to Madison Theater on March, 8th. Dr. Dog will be performing ahead of their tenth studio album, Critical Equation release on April 27th, 2018 which also makes this their first release of new material in five years.

Dr. Dog is composed of 5 members including Tony Leaman (bass guitar), Scott McMicken (lead guitar), Frank McElroy (rhythm guitar), Zach Miller (keyboard), and Eric Slick (drums). There was more at stake for the group this time around regarding their tenth project. While Dr. Dog has been prolific in their culmination of bluesy, pop, and psych rock releases since 2002 they had yet to make a critical splash since 2010. As far as the recording process itself front man McMicken said, “We wanted it to feel really live and be tracked in a live way.” Dr. Dog definitely strives to include more love ballads on Critical Equation, but their boundless range of vocals and instrumentation will definitely still make for an enjoyable night at the Madison Theater.

Opening up for Dr. Dog is Boone, North Carolina formed group The Nude Party. The indie folk and rock n’ roll band often refers to themselves as “the six nude dudes.” The Nude Party released their debut album on July 6th, 2018.
