2023 MODERN ROCK 500
Are we ready, Folks?!?!?! Let's do this!
x ray effing spec! oh bondage up yours oh bondage no more
I remember how I first found WOXY: I have that terrible tune - True Blue - by Madonna to thank for my discovery of 97X. It was ultimatum time: either I find good music, or I give music up for good. I slowly scrolled through the radio stations & heard: "Burn down the disco, Hang the blessed DJ Because the music that they constantly play It says nothing to me about my life Hang the blessed DJ Because the music they constantly play..." I didn't give up music, I gained 97X!
A quick programming note: Since we had 27 years of material draw from, most of the liners (the 97x drops), vintage commercials, and on air promos all usually air just once. But the thing to remember is that if you missed it during the week, you have this weekend starting Saturday to catch up with the stuff you missed during the week. And now you know the rest of the story. Good Day.
Dave "The Paul Harvey" of Modern Rock
This isnt really a plug for the station I am gonna mention but isn't it sad that the advertisers will not support this kind of station in the commercial market in Cincinnati? I was in radio broadcasting for 15 years and REAL radio where the talent really related to the local community used to be wildly successful. The only station I can think of around here is WTTS-FM Bloomington/Indianapolis. They do a great job of playing great music and relating to their community. This weekend is the Indy 500 and every day this week they have a short interview with one of the drivers in the race. There are so many marketable things here like the Flying Pig and the River and there isnt a single station here that really cares about the community via it's music and promotions. It is just so sad. Sorry for the rant.
think locally more everyone message. love it. well said larry
been listening to inhaler into the evening after a few of the past days. reminds me a bit of why I wound down on radio artifact. mr500 was a nostalgic joy blast. kexp still to me has more of the ol' what's new all around the world and local to seattle can't wait to sample it vibe that 97x had for this region. hoping and will keep tuning in that inhaler adopts a little more world new and how local talent fits into that vision soon. I know I'm an outright pompous b for this entry. crave new
RIGHT! I want a commercial one here! I love non commercial that being able to sell something to the market means it's doing what the people want.

They were all in love with dying
They were doing it in Texas

And rage against machines!
Totally forgot about Jenny & Blake doing their live dj set from Longworth Hall.
I still swear this song is called "Porsches for F*ck's Sake!"
I forgot how much I loved all the fun on-air stories!
Manic Street Preachers will eternally remind me of Sean. <3
And office japery
When did you discover 97x and who showed you the station? Unfortunately for me, it was 2009 and the next time I went to find it, they had been moved to Texas. RIP. But I'm glad to be discovering all of this great music with you now!
Wow, it is you. How have you been?
I'm good, Dan. How's life?
Very good. We're actually back in the area. We moved to West Chester last fall.
I wish I could lose 30 pounds in the same way I just lost nearly 30 years while listening to this!
All good vibes today!!!
you're doing better than I am then! lol
You made me cry right out of the gate 🖤
This sounds like a re-recording of Nemesis? Or do I just have better speakers now?
It would be the exact version we had ripped off the studio copy of the CD!
Then Sonos really does let you hear stuff you never heard before. Cool!
97X sounds so much better when you don’t have to rely on string, duct tape, and aluminum foil attached to your boom box radio antenna. :)
First appearance, right?
You know I'm pleased :D :D
The Dean scream!
Still makes me laugh!
Same. I laughed out loud knowing it was coming.
The pan-flute playing monkey still gives me nightmares
I need answers, Peter. Was this monkey a part of the station??
And now a cheery-sounding song about working in an asbestos mine.
Now I'm going to Dizz Knee Land!!
Did you crash your car again?
Anyone else having Soft Pack flashbacks, or is it just something on my end?
Sushi here. Boy, today is a happy traipse down memory lane.
It sure is—in the best way!
