I remember how I first found WOXY: I have that terrible tune - True Blue - by Madonna to thank for my discovery of 97X. It was ultimatum time: either I find good music, or I give music up for good. I slowly scrolled through the radio stations & heard: "Burn down the disco, Hang the blessed DJ Because the music that they constantly play It says nothing to me about my life Hang the blessed DJ Because the music they constantly play..." I didn't give up music, I gained 97X!
A quick programming note: Since we had 27 years of material draw from, most of the liners (the 97x drops), vintage commercials, and on air promos all usually air just once. But the thing to remember is that if you missed it during the week, you have this weekend starting Saturday to catch up with the stuff you missed during the week. And now you know the rest of the story. Good Day.
This isnt really a plug for the station I am gonna mention but isn't it sad that the advertisers will not support this kind of station in the commercial market in Cincinnati? I was in radio broadcasting for 15 years and REAL radio where the talent really related to the local community used to be wildly successful. The only station I can think of around here is WTTS-FM Bloomington/Indianapolis. They do a great job of playing great music and relating to their community. This weekend is the Indy 500 and every day this week they have a short interview with one of the drivers in the race. There are so many marketable things here like the Flying Pig and the River and there isnt a single station here that really cares about the community via it's music and promotions. It is just so sad. Sorry for the rant.
been listening to inhaler into the evening after a few of the past days. reminds me a bit of why I wound down on radio artifact. mr500 was a nostalgic joy blast. kexp still to me has more of the ol' what's new all around the world and local to seattle can't wait to sample it vibe that 97x had for this region. hoping and will keep tuning in that inhaler adopts a little more world new and how local talent fits into that vision soon. I know I'm an outright pompous b for this entry. crave new

When did you discover 97x and who showed you the station? Unfortunately for me, it was 2009 and the next time I went to find it, they had been moved to Texas. RIP. But I'm glad to be discovering all of this great music with you now!

This sounds like a re-recording of Nemesis? Or do I just have better speakers now?
BAM! R.E.M.!
The Dean scream!
The pan-flute playing monkey still gives me nightmares
And now a cheery-sounding song about working in an asbestos mine.
Now I'm going to Dizz Knee Land!!
